Seminars Master Rod Bohorquez is an experienced speaker as well as instructor. He travels widely presenting seminars on Shim Myung Do, self defense, motivational topics and giving demonstrations. EFC Black Belt Educational SummitRod's International instructors from all over the country attended the EFC Black Belt Educational Summit held in October, 2005 in Orlando, Florida. This is just one of many events our instructors participate in throughout the year in order to bring the latest teaching techniques and theories to our school, enhancing the students' fun and learning experience. Homestead Grand Opening Fun For EveryoneAt the end of June, 2005 the newest location of Rod's International Martial Arts opened in Homestead, Florida. In addition to demonstrations by students and instructors, Power 96, a rock-climbing wall, and a bounce-house kept young and old entertained. The highlight of the day was a performance by Master Rod showing Shim Myung Do techniques. Here are some pictures of the day:
S.W.A.T. Team Performs at Bowman Foster Ashe ElementaryS.W.A.T. Team students put on an impressive show for the elementary school students of Bowman Foster Ashe Elementary on February 2, 2005. Congratulations to coach Mikel Forerro who instills this special group with spirit through his contagious energy and devotion to the martial arts. Students Show Spirit at Book SigningIn celebration of the publication of the first book of Shim Myung Do, Master Rod, the author, held a book signing in Miami on December 11, 2004. Students of all belt levels participated in a demostration of techniques, forms, and breaking. Many thanks to all for the magnificent turnout. Below are some highlights of the event.
Office Depot DemonstrationThe student of Rod's International Martial Arts were pleased to participate in a special day of activities at Office Depot on July 26, 2003. In addition to face painting and a scavenger hunt, Rod's students showed patrons their basic kicking and punching skills. Here are a few shots from the event:
Kick-for-Kids Benefit May 17, 2003Gurson Rugel and his family send their sincere thanks to the students of Rod's International Martial Arts for participating in raising funds to help Gurson in his fight against cancer. Students collected pledges and showed off their skills in front of the Wal-Mart on Saturday, May 17, 2003. Many thanks to Mr. Frank Portuondo for providing us with the following pictures of the event.
Veterans Day Air Show DemonstrationRod's International Martial Arts had the privilege of performing at the Veterans Day Air Show at the Tamiami Airport on November 11th and 12th. The students enjoyed watching immaculately restored World War II aircrafts flying in formation, then treated the crowd to a spectacular exhibition. The highlight of the day was an amazing demonstration of breaking concrete by Master Rod. Here are a few shots from the event. 20th Anniversary CelebrationOn November 22, 1998 a banquet was held in honor of Master Rod Bohorquez in celebration his 20th anniversary of teaching martial arts to students in the Kendall area. The evening included demonstrations by the Power Team, a group of Master Rod's dedicated students who perform for school and civic groups around Miami throughout the year. The students had a special commemorative video produced recounting the highlights of the past 20 years in Master Rod's career. After viewing the documentary, the video was presented as a gift to the Master and his family. Master Rod gave out special awards to students and instructors who had helped make his school successful over the years. Black Belts were bestowed upon a large group of students who had recently completed their testing. The new Black Belts performed their forms in expert precision then set the stage for the finale: a spectacular demonstration of breaking techniques by Master Rod.
